January 22, 1998

KALAMAZOO -- Five of the great cities of Europe are on the itinerary for Western Michigan University's "Grand Tour of Europe" this summer.

An informational meeting about the tour is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Room 212 of WMU's Bernhard Center.

The grand tour, which is sponsored every two years by the Office of International Affairs, is open to students and to the general public. This year's trip is scheduled for June 29 through July 29, and will take travelers to Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Florence and Prague.

Dr. Larry J. ten Harmsel, WMU professor of English, will lead the tour. He has studied, traveled and taught throughout Europe, and has led previous grand tours.

The price of the tour is $4,195. Four hours of credit are available for interested students.

The Jan. 28 meeting will feature a video taken by students on the tour two years ago. Refreshments will be served.
