KALAMAZOO -- Gerrard W. Haworth and Richard G. Haworth will take center stage at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, when the Greater Grand Rapids chapter of the Western Michigan University Alumni Association sponsors its first "Spotlight on Success" program.

The free program, which is open to the public, will take place at Haworth, Inc., 1 Haworth Center in Holland. It is part of a planned annual event to recognize WMU alumni in the Grand Rapids and Holland areas who have achieved a model of success in their business ventures. Dr. Timothy Light, WMU provost and vice president for academic affairs, will serve as master of ceremonies.

Gerrard Haworth, a 1937 WMU graduate, is the founding chairman of the Haworth company. His son, Richard, is chief executive officer of the firm and chairman of its board of directors. He also is a 1964 WMU graduate and current chairman of the University's Board of Trustees. The two have built the company into a multinational, billion-dollar manufacturer of metal and wood office interior systems.

During the evening, the elder Haworth will present a brief retrospective of Haworth Inc.'s history while Richard will address the firm's future and outline the relationship between it and WMU. Tours of the Haworth facility also will be conducted.

Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided. Those planning to attend are asked to reserve a place by Friday, May 23. To make a reservation or obtain more information, call 616 387-8777.
