Ensemble Re-Configuration

The WMU Bands will be re-configuring their concert bands in the following way:

  • Wind Symphony (slightly smaller, more select version of old Symphonic Band)
    Conducted by Dr. Scott Boerma
  • Symphonic Band (smaller, more select version of old Concert Band)
    Conducted by Prof. John Leonard
  • Concert Band (enhancement of old Campus Band)
    Conducted by Dr. Mary Land

Annual Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music

Carter Pann will be the featured composer at the 51st Annual Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music, held on the campus of Western Michigan University on Thursday, April 4, 2019.  Pann will work with both the University Wind Symphony and the Carter Pann All-Star Band prior to their conference-closing concert at 7:30p.m. in Miller Auditorium.  The concert will also feature clarinetist, Bradley Wong, and saxophonist, Henning Schröder.

The day-long Spring Conference event will include performances and master classes by WMU faculty and student soloists and ensembles.  Also featured will be afternoon performances by the following high school bands:

  •  L'Anse Creuse High School Wind Symphony – Russell Hilton, Conductor
  •  Ann Arbor Skyline Symphony Band – Jason Smith, Conductor
