Welcome to the Monday Update

The season is over, and since you probably wont be seeing much of us until next summer, as we will be working hard to prepare the car for that summer's events, we would like to welcome you to our first-weekly "Monday Update" blog series. We want to make sure that all of our supporters are kept up to date on the happenings within Sunseeker. So, let's get started!

First off, we would like to thank all of those who have, and continue to support us. We had a great year, and feel that we finished off strong. We have had good number of sponsors added to our list in the recent weeks, you can read about them in some of our earlier blog posts: TeXtreme, Balluff, The MathWorks, and SolidWorks.

As for what we're up to, following our most recent outings to the Kalamazoo Holiday Parade and the Grand Rapids Holiday Parade, we're beginning to settle into the period of winter maintenance. For the first time ever, we will be totally stripping the 2010 car of all components, electrical and mechanical alike. You can see a couple pictures of the beginning of this process below.

The team hard at work removing components from the car.

Not long after the first picture was taken, the rear suspension and roll cage were both gone.

We are using this winter deconstruction as an opportunity to do a few things, one of which is to reduce weight, by eliminating anything that isn't necessary, and also to train our new members with the mechanics of the car; to give them hands-on experience before our racing events next summer. More work will be completed during our upcoming holiday break, and we will be sure to keep everyone up to date.

With more to come on this topic as we progress further into the deconstruction process, we would like to wish everyone a happy holidays, and we'll see you all again next week!
