Getting Started Checklist

This checklist is the step-by-step process to enrolling at WMU Extended University Programs. If at any time you have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us.

  1. Review the program material online at Program Search
  2. Contact us for additional information and to set up an advising appointment
  3. Meet with an Academic Program Advisor to discuss the application process and program requirements
  4. Complete the application for admission; check with the regional site or program advisor for special application instructions. These vary by program and include deadlines, forms, test scores, requesting official transcripts, whether to complete the online or paper application and how to submit it.
  5. Research opportunities for Financial Aid:
    • Contact WMU Financial Aid at wmich.edu/finaid
    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov
    • Contact your Human Resources administrator about tuition reimbursement programs at your employer
  6. Once your application has been processed you will receive your Bronco NetID and password which will allow you to login into the WMU Student Portal located at gowmu.wmich.edu
  7. Register for classes
    • Online through GoWMU
    • Contact us for assistance
