The undergraduate students in industrial engineering program use the lab for series of manufacturing automation related laboratory experiments and projects. Over the last 18 years student groups have designed automated manufacturing cells as part of their class semester projects. The lab is also equipped with software tools such as RS Logix 500, LabVIEW, PART and VALISYS from Tecnomatix Technologies. Several graduate students have conducted research using these tools.
