KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Meeting Wednesday, Jan. 24, the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will elect its officers to serve for 2018.

Gathering in formal session at 11 a.m. in the ballroom of Heritage Hall, the board will select two of its members to serve as chair and vice chair for the year. Board members also are expected to confirm the appointments of three University officers who will serve the board as secretary, treasurer and assistant secretary, and assistant treasurer.

Also on the agenda for the Jan. 24 meeting is a recommendation to name a road in Phase Two of the University's Business Technology and Research Park. The resolution is to name the new road for a longtime civic leader, now deceased, who was a strong advocate for the establishment of the BTR Park.

At the meeting, the board also will act on consent items that include reports on curricular changes, personnel moves, and gifts and grants recently received by the University. As is the case with all meetings of the WMU Board of Trustees, the event will be live streamed online at http://bit.ly/1Go6KLc. Background materials on items the board will consider at the Jan. 24 meeting are posted at wmich.edu/trustees.
