This is the 33rd time the chapter has received the recognition.

The recognition

The organization strives to recognize outstanding academic achievements in the field of accounting, finance and information systems; promote the study and practice of professional fields related to these disciplines; provide opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing financial professionals; and to encourage a sense of ethical, social and public responsibilities.

To earn the recognition, the chapter far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi, excelling in the areas of academics and professionalism.

"Achieving Superior Status takes an immense amount of work and commitment from the students involved," says Dr. Cari Burke, advisor for the group and assistant professor of accountancy. "For example, each member and candidate must complete at least 32 hours of professional and service activities. I'm incredibly proud of the students who made it happen."

The chapter

Students understand the value of both participating in the organization and helping their chapter achieve Superior Status.

"Being an active member in a superior chapter affords innumerable benefits for students," says James Koss, Gamma Rho chapter president. "A student's growth is limited only by the degree to which they choose to participate, and as a member of Beta Alpha Psi, there are so many opportunities in which to take part."

The chapter develops and hosts a number of different professional development events during the academic year, including the Meet the Firms event, a career fair dedicated to students in the professional fields Beta Alpha Psi serves.
