KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University and the University of Passau invite applications for a short-term faculty exchange at one of the newest of the German universities in the lovely region of Bavaria.

The exchange is open to WMU faculty members from any discipline who submit their application materials by Friday, Oct. 28. German language skills are not required to apply.

The visiting professor should plan on being in residence during a one-month period between May 1 and June 30, 2017. Those selected are usually invited to give one or two lectures on an area of their expertise and afforded ample opportunity for research and interaction with Passau faculty.

Passau will serve as host, providing office space, access to university facilities and housing in the city. The relationship between WMU and Passau is in its third decade and has provided many opportunities for cross-cultural interchange. There is no stipend with this exchange.

Interested applicants should, by the deadline date, submit a brief letter of interest that includes a proposed list of topics they might speak on, a brief plan for the visit, potential contacts to be made at the University of Passau and a short curriculum vitae.

Direct applications and questions to Dr. Michelle Metro-Roland, director of faculty and global program development in the Haenicke Institute for Global Education, at michelle.metro-roland@wmich.edu or (269) 387-3908.
