WMU Symphonic Band to present variety-packed program

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Western Michigan University Symphonic Band will present a variety-packed program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in Miller Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature wind ensemble classics like Grainger’s "Irish Tune from County Derry" and "Shepherd’s Hey" as well as Husa’s "Music for Prague 1968." The program will open with Shostakovich’s dazzling "Festive Overture" and will close with Michael Daugherty’s rousing conga-dancing tribute to Desi Arnaz.
