Feedback sought on University email service

Contact: Nancy Kroes

The survey is open through May 26.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Office of Information Technology is seeking feedback from users of Western Michigan University email.

WMU's email service provider recently announced plans to discontinue offering email as a service in June 2017. The University's current contract ends in June 2016.

The Office of Information Technology has begun an evaluation of alternative email solutions. Four teams are focusing on key components including user functionality, security and privacy, technology and accessibility. These teams are comprised of over 25 participants, including students, faculty and staff from various academic and administrative units. Each team is identifying the pros and cons of each alternative email solution and delivering a report of their findings to University leadership to be considered in the decision-making process.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to take a survey to provide feedback on the current email system, Webmail Plus, and help determine the needs for future University email services. The survey will take five to 10 minutes to complete and is available through Tuesday, May 26
