Most offices closed Thanksgiving weekend

Most campus offices will be closed Nov. 28 through Dec. 1.

KALAMAZOO—Except for essential and emergency services, Western Michigan University offices will be closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 28 through Dec. 1, for the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Thanksgiving recess officially begins at noon Wednesday, Nov. 27, and there are no afternoon or evening classes Wednesday. WMU offices will remain open Wednesday afternoon.

Classes resume at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2.

Listed below are Thanksgiving weekend hours for selected University offices and services. Students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office on campus is open. For emergencies only, contact WMU Public Safety at (269) 387-5555.

Admissions office is closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 28 through Dec. 1.

Bernhard Center and Bronco Mall close at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, and will remain closed Thursday through Saturday. The Bernhard Center will be open 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday, and Subway will be open reduced hours 3 to 11 p.m. All other offices and Bronco Mall stores will be closed until Monday morning. Bronco Transit buses will stop running at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, and will resume normal operations Monday, Dec. 2.

Campus computing

The Help Desk closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, and will remain closed Thursday through Sunday. It resumes regular hours at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2. The Mobile Help Desk is closed Wednesday, Nov. 27, through Sunday, Dec. 1.

Bernhard Computing Center in the Bronco Mall closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, is closed Thursday through Saturday, and reopens at noon Sunday, Dec. 1.

University Computing Center lab closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, is closed Thursday through Saturday, and reopens at noon Sunday, Dec. 1.

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, is closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 28 through Dec. 1. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.

Student Recreation Center closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, is closed Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 28-30, and is open from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1. The recreation center resumes normal hours Monday, Dec. 2, at 6 a.m.

Unified Clinics are open normal hours Wednesday, Nov. 27, and closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 28 through Dec. 1.

Waldo Library closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27. The library is closed Thursday, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and open from noon Sunday to 3 a.m. Monday. The library resumes normal hours at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2.

Energy savings

To reduce energy costs while the University is closed, heating and cooling systems in all office and classroom buildings controlled by the WMU Building Energy Management System will be in holiday mode. Air handlers will not run during this time, unless a space is exempt from the program or the temperature in a particular space goes outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not normally go into night setback mode will not go into holiday mode.

Faculty, staff and students are asked to turn off and unplug office equipment and other appliances, such as computers and coffee makers.
