KALAMAZOO—Western Michigan University students who would like to be a positive role model and mentor for a group of incoming first-year students during the week prior to classes beginning this fall are encouraged to apply to be a Fall Welcome Student ambassador.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, March 15, to the Fall Welcome office, 1535 Ellsworth Hall. Group interviews will be held the week of March 25.
An optional information session will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday Feb. 25, in 105 Bernhard Center.
Leaders will attend a weekend of training Aug. 23-25 where they will learn more about WMU and the Kalamazoo community, develop skills in group problem solving, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication and team building. Being a fall welcome ambassador will provide leaders the opportunity to interact with a diverse population of students and foster skills important for future employment.
The Fall Welcome program for first year students takes place Monday through Friday, Aug. 26-30.
