KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University professor Paul Pancella will describe how he converted a standard gas-powered car to an all-electric vehicle in a free public lecture at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, in 1118 Rood Hall.

A professor of physics, Pancella will present "Hondatron: An Amateur Electric Vehicle Conversion" and discuss the motivation for his project, its design and implementation, and the results.

Pancella converted a 1992 Honda Civic from its internal combustion gasoline engine to all-electric power. Depending on weather conditions, the car will be available for viewing in a nearby parking lot after the talk.
