These collections in Waldo Library contain materials to support the study and research of education.

All items in our education collections have been moved to Waldo Library from Swain Education Library. These items have been integrated into various areas within Waldo Library. Stop by the service desk in the first-floor lobby if you need help finding an item.

Children's collection

  • Children's and Young Adult Collection

    Ideal for enriching classroom teaching, this collection includes fiction, non-fiction, poetry and picture books for children and young adults. Located on the second floor of Waldo Library.

    The Curriculum Enrichment Collection formerly at Swain Education Library has been integrated into this collection.

  • Picture books

    Large collection of children's picture books. Call numbers start with E for EASY.

  • Beginning readers

    Section of learning-to-read or ready-to-read books. Call numbers start with BR for Beginning Readers.

  • Fiction

    Fiction for children through young adults. Call numbers start with FIC for FICTION.

  • Nonfiction

    Nonfiction for children. Call numbers are in a simplified Dewey scheme (numbers, not letters).

  • Caldecott and Newbery materials

    Separate section for materials by Caldecott and Newbery award winners. 

Textbook collection

  • K-12 Textbook Collection

    Our extensive K-12 student and teacher edition textbook collection contains all textbooks and textbook series currently used in U.S. schools. This includes textbooks for reading, social studies, arithmetic, language arts, science and foreign language study. Located on the second floor of Waldo Library under call number LT.

    The K-12 Textbook Collection formerly at Swain Education Library has been integrated into this collection.
