International admissions and immigration offices moving to Faunce

Faunce Student Services is located on the west end of main campus.

To better serve Western Michigan University’s growing international student population, the international admissions and immigration units of the Haenicke Institute for Global Education will move in early August from Ellsworth Hall to a newly renovated, student-centered space on the third floor of the Faunce Student Services building.

International Admissions and Services and Immigration Services will move into the third floor east wing of Faunce, where international students will also benefit from easy access to WMU’s offices of Student Affairs and Residence Life.

The move is slated to be completed by August 10. In order to allow for the staff and equipment to be moved, the Ellsworth office will close at noon on Friday, Aug. 7. The offices will re-open in 3110 Faunce Student Services at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11 (building information and map).

“We look forward to welcoming our incoming fall students into this new environment, which we’ve designed to improve delivery of admissions and immigration advising and services to our international students,” said Dr. Wolfgang Schlör, associate provost of the Haenicke Institute. “Our international student population has been on the rise for more than 10 years and we anticipate that this upgrade will improve students’ overall experience at the University.”

Both units will maintain their current mailstop—5246, and staff will retain their current phone numbers. Parking in close proximity to the building is available for students in Lot 82, Lot 83, and in the W parking area in Lot 61; for employees in Lot 62 and Lot 100; and, for visitors in Lot 39 and Lot 100 (parking map). The building is handicap accessible via the building’s rear entrance and an elevator; handicap parking is immediately adjacent to the back entrance.

The offices where International Admissions and Services and Immigration are currently located on the fourth floor of Ellsworth Hall will be re-purposed by the Haenicke Institute for Global Education and other units in Academic Affairs.
