HNRS 4990

Honors Thesis Registration

Please note that HNRS 4990 must be completed the semester you plan to defend your thesis.

Honors  students  must  enroll  in  and  complete  at  least  one credit  of  HNRS  4990: Honors Thesis prior to graduation. This course counts toward the Experiential portion of the honors credit hour requirement. The thesis chair serves as instructor of record for your credit(s), which means that the thesis chair will be responsible for assigning the grade for your work on your honors thesis. Students and chairs often have questions about the program of study outline requested below. We've shared one student's outline (with permission) to give you an idea of what we're looking for. Yours may look slightly different, it might include texts, field visits, etc.; but this sample will give you a starting point. If you are still unsure what to include, feel free to contact Jennifer Townsend or your honors advisor for more information.

In order to register for HNRS 4990, you must complete and submit the form below at least one month prior to the semester in which you wish to enroll in the course. The honors college will create a section of HNRS 4990, assign your thesis chair as the instructor of record, and email you when it is ready for you to register for the course.

Please visit the requirements page of our website for a complete list of substitutable courses depending on major.
