Dr. Borish publishes essay in new book collection

Dr. Linda Borish recently published an essay in a new collection on sports in New York City’s history called "New York Sports: Glamour and Grit in the Empire City". Stephen H. Norwood edited the collection for the University of Arkansas Press.  Her essay is titled “Jewish Institutions and Women’s Sport: New York City in the Late Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Centuries.” In it, Dr. Borish “examines how sporting experiences fostered a community and ethnic identity for young Jewish women and the ways gender and ethnicity shaped the types of sports deemed appropriate for them.”  The essay focuses special attention on young Jewish women’s swimming and basketball experiences.

Congratulations to Dr. Borish on this accomplishment.
