The Pen Dragons Calligraphy Guild's exhibit "On Healing...body, mind, spirit, our world" is currently on display in the College of Health and Human Services second-floor gallery and will be there until Feb. 21, 2013.

Pen Dragons Calligraphy Guild is a non-profit organization that promotes the study, appreciation and practice of calligraphy as an art form and fosters a wider appreciation of calligraphy, in all its historical and present day applications, through the free interchange of ideas and techniques.

The 14 lettering artists in this exhibit, guild members from throughout west Michigan and beyond, are pleased to have the opportunity to share their work with the staff, students and visitors at WMU. For this group exhibit, guild members found words that express a wide range of thoughts on broad meanings of healing. The letter styles, compositions and media used by artists enhance the statements and help impart a deeper meaning to the viewer.

Guild members have also exhibited at regional libraries, the Kalamazoo Valley Museum, and art centers in Three Rivers and Holland, Mich. The organization sponsors lectures and workshops and participates in community events. More information on Pen Dragons can be found at www.PenDragonsCalligraphy.org.

"On Healing...body, mind, spirit, our world" can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For more information, contact Gay Walker at (269) 387-3839 or gay.walker@wmich.edu.
