Global Ambassadors Scholarship Program

The WMU Global Ambassadors Scholarship Program is an innovative, four-year program that brings together all three University pillars. The scholarship program is a joint initiative between Enrollment Management and the Haenicke Institute for Global Education. 

The WMU Global Ambassadors Scholarship Program is a four-year program that explores global engagement through coursework, study abroad and local community involvement. The program is worth approximately $20,000 ($5,000 per year)!

Program Components 

The WMU Global Ambassadors Scholarship Program is a four-year program that explores global engagement through coursework, study abroad and local community involvement. The program includes funding for the following activities: 

Year 1:

"Global Challenges"

  • First Year Seminar Global Ambassadors Scholarship Program course (fall semester)
  • Introduction to global studies course with spring break study abroad (spring semester)

Year 2:

"Global Leadership"

  • Leadership skills course and retreat (fall semester)
  • Global engagement trip (spring semester)

Year 3:

"Beyond the Classroom"

  •  $5000 credit for semester study abroad program (fall or spring semester)

Year 4:

"Global Capstone"

  • Global capstone project with community organization (fall semester)
  • Mentoring with WMU faculty member (fall semester)
  • Global Student Leadership conference (spring semester)

Eligibility 

Applicants for the WMU Global Ambassador Scholarship Program must be: 

  • A first-time, incoming freshman in Fall 2018
  • Fully-admitted to WMU
  • A domestic, undergraduate student
  • Studying in a four-year or five-year academic program

Application

Applicants will be asked to provide the following:

  1. Name and WIN
  2. Essay response (written or video)
  3. Name, title and contact information for one reference
