The review committee is interested in session presentations that will be interactive and of interest to the greatest number of participants relating to this year’s conference theme, “Youth2College: Providing Youth Resources to Navigate the Pipeline.” Sessions offered at the Pre-College and Youth Outreach Conference should be applicable to the intended audience of practitioners, community organizers, policy makers, and college access leaders. Please note Sunday, November 16, 2014 is intended for networking. All conference session will occur on Monday, November 17, 2014. Four tracks will be available at the conference this year. The tracks include:

Building Networks for Success: Teamwork makes the dream work. As students journey the K-20 pipeline they need leadership and guidance from a network of mentors. How are you motivating and empowering students to build their own support networks to ensure successful transition to and through college?

Increasing Students’ Marketability: Students are often given information on how to sell themselves to employers. What we typically don’t discuss is how students can best be prepared to actively market themselves to colleges. What can we do to further student’s ability to market their skills and experiences to undergraduate and graduate admissions? How have you built trusting partnerships in your community to advance students’ experiences and skill development?

Developing Students’ Life Skills: Employers continue to share that students are coming to the workforce unprepared to work. They are technically skilled but missing critical life skills that make them unfit for the work environment. How can we infuse life skills into our current initiatives and programming to ensure our students are college and career ready?

Strategies for Diversifying Your Program Funding and Sustainability: Creating sustainable funding for your program is important but it can take away time from serving the mission and vision of your organization or program. What are creative, effective, and efficient fundraising and financial sustainability strategies that allow for continued program growth in a financially competitive climate?
