Human Resources Business Partner at Target

I work in the HR department in one of Target's 30+ distribution centers. I support our leadership team by serving as a strategic business partner, helping in the areas of performance management, succession planning, culture and overall HR processes.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

Rewarding: helping a new leader develop his/her skills to become an even better leader for his/her team.   Challenging: balancing priorities in a fast paced and always changing industry.

If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?

While obtaining my degree at WMU, I worked both a campus job and held an internship. These experiences taught me invaluable lessons of what is was like to work in the 'real world' and helped me gain professional communication and interpersonal skills.

What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?

Involve yourself in as many experiences you can to build your skills and network. You never know - an unpaid internship, networking event or summer job could land you the connection you need for a great career.
