Circuit Engineer at Consumers Energy

I work with county and city municipalities to coordinate and design our electric facilities to accommodate their civic improvement projects.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is building working  relationships with the county and city engineers. The biggest challenge I face is working with tight deadlines and dealing with emergency projects.

If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?

I was an intern at Consumers Energy for four years during college. The experience I gained during this time made me a strong candidate for the position when I applied, and it made for a smooth transition into the role when I was hired.

What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?

Pursuing a degree in something as difficult as electrical engineering is like climbing a mountain. It is truly an uphill battle the entire way. There were times I felt discouraged and wanted to turn back, but then I would turn around and see how far I've come. ALWAYS KEEP CLIMBING! As someone who has been in the industry for a few years, I can promise that the view from the top is pretty beautiful.
