Student Services Coordinator at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies

I work in the Office of Student Services at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in Monterey, CA as the Student Services Coordinator. I do a lot of work with the marketing from the office, as well as work with various events on campus. I help students with their housing searches in the area and make myself readily available for any questions the students may have.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part of working at MIIS is working with all the people on campus. Every person I've met here (staff, faculty, students, etc.) has been extremely kind and helpful, and they all have amazing background stories.

If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?

My campus job had an extremely large impact on my current career. I worked as an Office Manager in the Little 3, where I truly developed a lot of my professional skills. The hall director (and my mentor) helped me to learn more about careers in student affairs and guided me on the skills needed for my future.

What advice do you have for students looking for their career after college?

Don't hesitate to apply for every job in which you are interested, even if you don't think you're qualified. Also, stay positive during the application process. I spent many nights at Water Street applying for every job I found, but with the help of a supportive friend group and lots of coffee, I made it through (and so will you!).
