Secondary Education Planning Taskforce

The Secondary Education Planning Taskforce joins the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Education and Human Development secondary education methods instructors, academic advisors and administrators in the exchange of information and for collaborative planning.  Monthly meetings are a forum for conversations related to the instruction, assessment and curriculum of the colleges' secondary education programs. The committee also functions as a central point of communication and, through representation on the Educational Planning Governing Council, takes a leading role in the creation and dissemination of secondary education policy.  SEPT has facilitated discussions on a wide-range of issues including, but not limited to:

  • Course evaluations
  • Course sequencing
  • Curricular mapping
  • Dispositional student evaluations
  • PRE and MTTC exam preparation
  • Transfer agreements

Membership is open to those within the college who are directly or indirectly involved with secondary education. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Advisors
  • Instructors
  • Mentor teachers
  • Student success coordinators
  • Representatives of departments with secondary education programs
  • Teacher placement specialists

The group is chaired by a representative from the College of Arts and Sciences dean’s office who, with the assistance of the College of Education and Human Development dean’s office, arranges meeting times, sets agendas, arranges speakers, distributes materials, and records minutes Documents related to these and other activities are accessed through the SEPT sharepoint site.
