Two-factor authentication (2FA) has become part of daily life. 2FA protects your bank accounts, personal email accounts, social media accounts, and most of your login based online entertainment and services.

While 2FA is currently not required for all employees at WMU we encourage you to opt-in and activate 2FA to help protect your campus accounts and information.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) has become part of daily life. 2FA protects your bank accounts, personal email accounts, social media accounts, and most of your login based online entertainment and services.

While 2FA is currently not required for all employees at WMU we encourage you to opt-in and activate 2FA to help protect your campus accounts and information. By activating 2FA the requirement to change your password will be increased to once every 365 days the next time you change your password. Employees who do not use two-factor authentication must change their passwords every six months.

Duo authentication issuesResolved

UPDATE 12/15/21 @ 10:50 am: The root cause of the Duo 2FA authentication issues is a result of a global outage with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which is affecting many other services around the world. Connectivity with Duo appears to be improving, however, we are still seeing delays with push notification delivery. In the meantime, you can still use a code from the Duo app or text message. We are currently experiencing Duo authentication issues as a result of an outage with our vendor Duo Security. You may see the Duo authentication window time out. We are awaiting communication from our vendor regarding an estimated resolution time. We will provide additional updates as they become available.
