Microsoft is aware of limited, targeted attacks that attempt to exploit a vulnerability in Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.

For now, Information Technology is suggesting you use Chrome or Firefox for your browsing choice. Both may be downloaded and installed for free at https://google.com/chrome and https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new. 

Windows XP users are encouraged to select Chrome or Firefox as their primary browser now, since Windows XP is no longer supported, nor being updated by Microsoft. Any questions should be directed to the Help Desk at (269) 387-4357, option 1.

Effective Sept. 1, all students, faculty and staff with personal websites on the homepages server will be required to use SFTP to transfer files. For most file transfer programs this should be a simple change from FTP to SFTP. FileZilla is provided as a secure client and is documented and supported by the Help Desk. A new version of i>clicker that combines i>clicker and i>grader into one application is now available for instructors. It may be obtained at the Faculty Technology Center or online in GoWMU’s Software Downloads channel under Software, Hot Fixes and License Files. If you have your own base station, you will need a firmware upgrade, also available in the Faculty Technology Center or via GoWMU. iTunes U at WMU will be discontinued as of Dec. 31. If you are an instructor with WMU content on iTunes U, please download your content prior to this date. For more information, please see wmich.edu/it/newsitunesuatwmu
