Beginning Friday, Jan. 24, the Office of Information Technology will be turning on auto upgrade of the Symantec Endpoint Protection for managed desktop and laptop computers installed from the GoWMU software downloads. This will automatically download and install the latest version of the software and it will require a reboot of your system.
If you would like to upgrade sooner, so you may manage the system reboot, please log in to GoWMU and download the Symantec Endpoint Protection from the Software Downloads area.
Computers with custom install packages created by unit IT support staff, and computers that have already been updated will be excluded. Please, direct questions to the Help Desk at (269) 387-4357.
Symantec Endpoint Protection, an antivirus software, is no longer licensed by Western Michigan University. Windows Defender is the supported antivirus solution for WMU owned computers. Windows Defender is available for both Windows and macOS platforms. You should remove Symantec from your machines by Sept. 11, 2020.
