A distinguished scholar is invited to the WMU campus each semester to deliver the Cornelius Loew Lecture, named for an important early supporter of the Medieval Institute and its programs.
The chief locus of research activity at the Medieval Institute is the Richard Rawlinson Center for Anglo-Saxon Studies and Manuscript Research. The Center has a specialist library, publishes two book series, as well as Old English Newsletter Subsidia, and sponsors sessions at the annual International Congress on Medieval Studies.
