American Association of University Women – offers advocacy, research and education funding resources.

Center for Women and Information Technology - offers information, news, resources, and initiatives that address women's use of information technology [IT] and their under-representation in the IT workforce.

Feminist Academic Press Column - offers very brief reviews [3-6 sentences] of recently published books related to Women's Studies, women's issues, Lesbian/Queer Studies, and Gender Studies.

FeministCampus.org - sponsored by the Feminist Majority to provide tools and resources students need to become involved in pro-choice activism on campus.

National Women’s Studies Association – Supports feminist teaching, research and community service at all levels of education.

The Second Wave and Beyond - resources include a discussion forum, chronologies, oral histories, images, reviews, bibliographies, links to related sites, and teaching and research resources.

Activism

Blackgirl International – resource for Black Women.

CAVNET (Communities Against Violence Network) –focus on gender inequality worldwide; sexual violence on campus; trafficking in women; gays and lesbians; men’s efforts to end men’s violence against women; and a multi-issue section on violence against women.

Feminist.com – Consciousness-raising portal of resources and information that supports women’s equality, self-empowerment, wellness and safety.

Feminist Majority Foundation – dedicated to women’s equality, reproductive health, and non-violence.

Global Fund for Women – Advocates for and defends women’s human rights by making grants to support women’s groups around the world.

MS Foundation – National, multi-issue women’s fund that directs resources of all kinds to cutting-edge projects that nurture girls’ leadership skills, protect the health and safety of women, and provide low-income women with the tools to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

NOW(National Organization for Women) – advocate for women’s rights through education and litigation.

Third Wave Foundation – Helps support the leadership of young women 15 to 30 by providing resources, public education, and relationship building opportunities.

WAGE (Women Are Getting Even) – promotes equality in wages.

WEDO: Women’s Environment and Development Organization - A global activist, advocacy, and information organization

Women’s Sports Foundation – Charitable educational organization dedicated to advancing the lives of girls and women through sports and physical activity.

Business

ABWA: American Business Women’s Association - offers resources that support businesswomen, including professional development materials, career development information, local networking opportunities, and more.

Center for Women’s Business Research – clearinghouse for women-owned businesses.

Dress for Success – Provides interview suits, confidence boosts and career development to more than 45,000 women in over 75 cities each year.

Field of Dreams: Women in Business - resources for women in business, including tips on advertising, marketing, and promotion; information about grants and loans; a businesswoman’s internet research directory; web design services; links to political figures; a directory of women in business; and more.

Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women (GROW) – business networking and assistance.

National Institute for Women in Trades, Technology, and Science – dedicated to integrating women into nontraditional careers by providing training, technical assistance, and publications to schools and employers. The web site offers resources for assessing how well high schools are preparing girls for nontraditional careers, strategies for recruiting more women and girls into information technology, information about preventing sexual harassment, and more. (Of special note is the WomenTech Portal.)

National Women’s Law Center - mission is “to protect and advance the progress of women and girls at work, in school, and in virtually every aspect of their lives.” Its informative web site provides news, information, and activist alerts in support of its mission in such categories as Athletics, Child & Family Support, Education, Employment, Health, Social Security, and more.

Office of Women’s Business Ownership - sponsored by the U.S. government’s Small Business Administration, this site offers links to selected resources for women who own a business or hope to do so.

Online Women’s Business Center - devoted to helping women start and run their own business. Large library of articles on marketing, finance, management, technology, and procurement issues.

WomanOwned - offers a variety of resources for women who own businesses or would like to, including articles offering advice and information about running a business, a directory of women business owners, a message board, and links to other resources.

GLBT

Human Rights Campaign - largest GLBT civil rights organization working for equality.

International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission - U.S.-based non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) that seeks to secure the full enjoyment of the human rights of all people and communities subject to discrimination or abuse on the basis of sexual orientation or expression, gender identity or expression, and/or HIV status.

Lesbian.org – promoting lesbian visibility on the internet.

NGLTF – National Gay and Lesbian Task Force –National progressive organization working for the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

Health

4CollegeWomen - focuses especially on health issues facing college-age women. Created by Brandeis University students and sponsored and overseen by the Former U. S. Assistant Surgeon General, Dr. Susan J Blumenthal, the site is specially strong on information about the following concerns: General Health and Emotional and Mental Health; Diseases and Conditions; and Safety and Violence- Related Issues.

Center for Young Women’s Health - Sponsored by Boston’s Children’s Hospital, this site provides bilingual [English/Spanish] information about eating disorders, nutrition, menstruation, gynecological exams, endometriosis, cancer, sexuality, birth control options, STDs, smoking, breast health, body piercing, emotional health, and more, as well as a guide to lesbian health.

National Center for Policy Research for Women and Families – nonprofit, nonpartisan organization’s web site provides news and information about policy research on such issues as social security, breast implants, breast cancer, poverty and welfare, violence, women’s health, children’s health, and work and family.

National Center on Women and Aging - includes a section on publications, many of which are available online, and a section of annotated links to information about Health, Aging, Housing, Caregiving, Financial Security, and other relevant sites.

National Partnership for Women and Families - formerly the Women’s Legal Defense Fund, the National Partnership now focuses on Health Care and on Work and Family issues.

National Sexual Violence Resource Center - clearinghouse of information [reports, news, statistics, state and national organizations, federal agencies, legal and medical resources, related web sites] about sexual violence and its prevention.

National Women’s Health Resource Center - offers extensive information about many aspects of women’s health.

Our Bodies, Ourselves: Companion Website - provides abundant information and links arranged into eight categories: Taking Care of Ourselves, Relationships and Sexuality, Sexual Health, Reproductive Choices, Child-Bearing, Growing Older, Medical Problems and Procedures, and Knowledge is Power.

History

Alice Paul Institute – Enhances public awareness of the life and work of Alice Paul, author of the Equal Rights Amendment.

National Women’s Hall of Fame - provides information about American women who have made major contributions to “the arts, athletics, business, education, government, the humanities, philanthropy and science.”

National Women’s History Project – celebrates historic accomplishments of women.

Media

About-Face – focuses on exposing negative media images.

Feminist Press – Nonprofit literary and educational publisher dedicated to publishing work by and about women.

MS. Magazine – Award-winning magazine recognized nationally and internationally as the media expert on issues relating to women’s status, women’s rights, and women’s points of view.

News We Can Use - focuses on news, issues, books, and Web sites of interest to women, most of which aren’t heavily publicized in the mainstream media, arranged into such categories as General, Politics, In the Courts, International, Health, Technology, Sports, Book Reviews, and Ludicrous.

Women’s Enews - professional news service providing news about issues of importance to women. Offers coverage of women internationally, not just in the United States. The “Jeer of the Week” calls attention to outrageous news.

Women Make Movies – Multicultural, multiracial, non-profit media arts organization which facilitates the production, promotion, distribution and exhibition of independent films and videotapes by and about women.

Women’s Media Center – focus on women’s representations in the media.

Politics

CEDAW: Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women – Part of the United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women, provides information about CEDAW, the U.N. convention that “is often described as an international bill of rights for women.

Center for Reproductive Law and Policy - dedicated to ensuring that all women have access to appropriate and freely chosen reproductive health services.

Coalition Against Trafficking in Women – NGO dedicated to combating sexual exploitation, especially prostitution and trafficking in women.

Communications for a Sustainable Future (CSF) - Archives for FEMISA, MATFEM, and ECOFEM lists, and more

Domestic Violence Resources: Open Directory Project - Extensive, well-organized, well-selected resources relating to domestic violence both in the US and around the world.

Emily’s List – supports female Democratic political candidates.

Gender Law and Policy - provides information and resources for passing laws prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity and gender expression. It contains an up-to-date listing of relevant US laws, news coverage, resources concerning legal issues affecting transgendered and gender-variant people in the US, and more.

GenderWatchers - contains a rich assortment of resources concerning gender equity in education. The site also offers a weekly e-mail newsletter dealing with "educational, social, economic and political updates concerning women worldwide" and a monthly e-zine on education for women and girls.

League of Women Voters/Michigan – encourages participation in government.

PLEN (Public Leadership Education Network) – offers seminars and internships to prepare women for public leadership.

The White House Project – National non-partisan organization which is dedicated to advancing women’s leadership across sectors, enhancing public perception’s of women’s ability to lead and fostering the entry of women into leadership positions, including the presidency.

Research

Institute for Women’s Policy Research – Public policy research organization dedicated to informing and stimulating the debate on public policy issues of critical importance to women and their families.

National Council for Research on Women - Generates, facilitates and promotes visibility for feminist research and analysis and builds stronger links between research, policy, action, and the media.
