Eligibility

For all undergraduate students:
At least one paper course (as required by the program curriculum) must be taken during the semester in which a scholarship is awarded; students must be registered for at least 12 credit hours/semester; and students must be registered as one of the following:

  • Paper Engineering or Paper Science major
  • Paper Engineering minor
For continuing majors and minors in Paper Engineering and Paper Science:
A minimum overall GPA of 2.7 is required.

Continuing Paper Engineering and Paper Science Majors are eligible to receive the scholarship award while registered for relevant paper course(s) of 3 credits or more, for a total of 9 semesters provided that the eligibility requirements are satisfied.  The amount of their award will reflect their overall grade point average and is dependent upon the availability of funds.

Continuing Paper Engineering and Paper Science Minors are eligible to receive the scholarship award while registered for relevant paper course(s) of 3 credits or more, for a total of 6 semesters provided that the eligibility requirements are satisfied.  The amount of their award will reflect their overall grade point average and is dependent upon the availability of funds.

New Majors and Minors in Paper Engineering and Paper Science who have qualified (are placed in Math 118 or above, and taking Chemistry 110/111 and Paper 1000 or Paper 1040 for the first semester) for an introductory award will receive $1,500.

PTF Math Eligibility Criteria for new and transfer students:
A minimum ACT score of 24 for math and a composite score of 22 (or SAT score of 1020 or higher) is required in order to receive a scholarship. These minimum ACT scores are required to make a student eligible for entering math classes which are necessary so that they can register for beginning paper courses. An alternative is that a student can satisfy these program qualifications by getting the prerequisites completed at a community college prior to starting at WMU or by passing the WMU math placement test.
