Below are some of the activities and displays that will help showcase the programs
and people of the University on the lawn of the Michigan Capitol Building during WMU Day.
- Flyover of the capitol by two Cirrus SR-20 aircraft
from WMU’s fleet of 28, plus a replica of the plane on display
outside the capitol
- Robo Bronco, a walking, talking, singing high-tech
chrome robotic version of WMU mascot Buster Bronco
- Chainless bicycle, using hydraulic power, first-place and design-award winner in 2007 national competition
- Bronco Biodiesel demonstration of faculty initiative that uses restaurant trap grease to develop biodiesel
fuel used in Kalamazoo city buses
- Workplace ergonomics for blind or low-vision people
- Blood pressure testing and information about hypertension
- Interactive analysis of posture and shoe-wear
- Computer-based alternative communication for people who cannot speak
- Great Lakes research using remote sensing
- Reducing greenhouse gasses by compressing and storing carbon dioxide in underground rock formations
