KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University faculty, staff, students and friends can show their support for the campus United Way campaign by purchasing a "Live United" T-shirt.

Each shirt has United Way's "Live United" campaign slogan printed across the front, the Western "W" on the sleeve, and "When you reach out a hand to one, you influence the condition of all" on the back. T-shirts can be purchased at the Student Recreation Center or by sending in the order form available online at www.wmich.edu/rec.

Adult sizes and pricing

Orders must be received by Thursday, Nov. 3, and will be filled within approximately five days. The Student Recreation Center has some T-shirts on hand that can be purchased from the service desk on the second floor. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card. Proceeds from all WMU T-shirt sales will be donated to the campus United Way fund.

WMU's United Way Campus Campaign

WMU holds a United Way campaign each fall. Contributions go to the Greater Kalamazoo United Way, which works with dozens of local agencies to help struggling individuals and families meet immediate challenges and secure the resources they need to keep moving in a positive direction.

WMU has established a goal of $300,000 for this year's United Way campaign, which will run through Thursday, Nov. 10. The University also hopes to increase the number of contributors by 10 percent over last year. Since the campaign started, WMU faculty, staff and retirees already have given nearly $156,900 in gifts and pledges, bringing the University to about 52 percent of its goal.

United Way contributors who give a new or increased gift of at least $50 this year will be automatically entered into a drawing for a 2011 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe motorcycle. Those who contribute early can also win prizes. WMU faculty and staff members who give any amount and return their pledge cards to the president's office by 5 p.m. the Thursday before each weekly prize drawing will be eligible for that week's and future week's drawings, until they win a prize.
