WMU jazz alumna Christine Salerno to perform on campus

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University alumna Christine Salerno and her Brazilian and contemporary jazz group, Ziji, will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

The performance is part of the WMU Jazz Studies' Alumni Concert Series. General admission tickets are $15 and $5 for WMU students. They are available at the door and through the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office at millerauditorium.com/som, (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858.

Ziji combines the song-writing talents of Salerno with authentic Brazilian sounds from composers Jobim, Jovino, Eliane Elias and more, creating a unique ensemble of samba and funk. The group is made up of Salerno on piano and vocals; John Salerno on flute and saxophones; John Gibson on electric and acoustic bass; Danny Lueck on drums and percussion; and Kelvin Kaspar on guitar.
