KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees will hold a brief formal meeting by conference call at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, to consider a newly negotiated three-year labor agreement with the WMU chapter of the American Association of University Professors, the union that represents the University's full-time faculty.

The conference call will begin at 11 a.m. and originate from the Connable Board of Trustees Room in the Bernhard Center. Interested members of the public are welcome to attend.

Negotiations between the AAUP and the University took place in April and an agreement was reached April 22. Members of the AAUP ratified the agreement in a vote held April 29. The contract requires approval by the WMU board before it is finalized and implemented. If approved by WMU trustees, the contract would be effective immediately and have an expiration date of Sept. 6, 2014.

WMU-AAUP represents 867 full-time faculty members at WMU and is the University's largest union.
