Concert features WMU faculty vocalists

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's highly acclaimed vocal faculty will present a concert of works from across the spectrum of its repertoire at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

"Bach to Broadway" highlights the talents and expertise of WMU's voice professors, which range from Bach and Bellini to Broadway, encompassing everything in between. Faculty performers include: Elizabeth Cowan, David Little, Alice Pierce, Ken Prewitt, Elizabeth Stoner and Karen Wicklund. The concert also features solo and ensemble appearances by instrumentalists from other areas of the WMU School of Music.

The first half of the show features pieces from the classical repertoire. The second half features Broadway tunes. The program includes:

  • "Jagen ist die Lust der Gotter," from Cantata BWV 208, by J.S. Bach
  • "Ihr Volker hort," by Georg Philip Telemann
  • "O mio Fernando," from La Favorita, by Donizetti
  • "Als Psalm 95," by Felix Mendelssohn
  • "Endlich, wird mein Joch," from Cantata BWV 56, by J.S. Bach
  • "Ach Ich Liebte," from Entführung aus dem Serail, by W. A. Mozart
  • "All I Ask of You," from "Phantom of the Opera"
  • "A Trip to the Library," from "She Loves Me"
  • "Glitter and be Gay," from "Candide"
  • "What You'd Call a Dream," from "Diamonds"
  • "Sisters, Sisters," from "White Christmas"
  • "You'll Never Walk Alone," from "Carousel"

General admission tickets are $12, $10 for seniors and $5 for students. They are available at the door and through the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office at (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858.
