Three students win supply management scholarships

KALAMAZOO--Three Western Michigan University Students are among 16 students representing top supply management programs at five universities who were honored at the recent 11th annual ISM Services Conference in Phoenix.

They were honored on Dec. 2 at the conference hosted by the Institute for Supply Management Services Group.

The scholarships are awarded to students who exemplify the very best in educational achievement and the future of the supply management profession. Each scholar received $2,000 plus sponsored registration and travel allowance to attend the conference Dec. 2-3.

"Chelsey, Trisha and Peter have had significant industry experience during their careers here," says Dr. Bret Wagner, director of the Integrated Supply Management Program in the WMU Haworth College of Business. "The ISM Services Conference gives them the opportunity to build on this experience by interacting with supply management professionals from a variety of companies."

Providing the scholarships fits with the ISM Services Group's mission and goals.

"One of our group's key focuses is investing in the education of future supply management professionals," says Marty Bell, a member of the ISM Services Group leadership team. "Scholarships and other funding are a great way to assist students in top supply management degree programs."

The ISM Services Group is one of several groups comprised of ISM members with common interests in education and networking in various topics. The organization's university relations efforts focus on four main areas: mentoring, internships, scholarships and on-site activities.
