Birds on a Wire performs in Dalton

Oct. 15, 2010

KALAMAZOO--The new music ensemble Birds on a Wire performs at Western Michigan University Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 8:15 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. Admission is $12, $10 for senior citizens and $5 for students.

The evening features a newly commissioned chamber music work, "Hiranyaloka (2010)," by Peter Pecere featuring WMU School of Music professor Bradley Wong on Yamaha's DX-5 wind synthesizer. The program also includes "Zaka" by Jennifer Higdon and "Chiaroscuro" by Andrew Rudin.

Directed by David Colson, Birds on a Wire has rapidly made its name and reputation through programming from the classics of the avant-garde and the works of living composers. This new ensemble blends students, WMU School of Music faculty, and professional musicians.
