Jazz trio Tri Fi celebrates CD release

KALAMAZOO--New York-based jazz trio Tri Fi celebrates the release of their third album, "3," with a concert at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall at Western Michigan University. General Admission is $12, $10 for senior citizens and $5 for students.

Tri Fi members are Matthew Fries, piano; Phil Palombi, bass; and WMU School of Music drum set professor Keith Hall. they bring their brand of acoustic jazz to Kalamazoo.

With original compositions and new arrangements of familiar jazz tunes, this NYC-based group displays a high level of musical communication, and a vibrant and joyful swing in the tradition of the classic jazz piano trio.
