Broadcast media career fair is open to public

Oct. 14, 2010

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University is holding a Broadcast Media Career and Networking Fair from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, on the second floor of Brown Hall.

The event is free and open to the public and does not require prior registration. However, it is intended primarily for WMU students and recent graduates.

Employers will be on hand to promote their organizations and career fields as well as discuss possibilities for full-time, part-time, internship and volunteer positions.

The fair is being organized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation in collaboration with WMU's School of Communication and Career and Student Employment Services. This year's fair has attracted broadcast industry representatives from across southern Lower Michigan.

Attendees will be able to network with employers and learn about opportunities to work in the broadcasting industry. They should have resumes and demos available, and according to the sponsors, "bring a good attitude and be dressed to impress."

Visit wmich.edu/career and click Calendar of Events for more information, including a list of participating employers.

For additional information, contact Ewa Urban in career services at ewa.l.urban@wmich.edu or (269) 387-2745. More information about the broadcast fair also is available at michiganbroadcastcareers.com or by contacting Julie Sochay with the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation at mabf@michmab.com or (517) 484-7444.
