Music alumni return with Down the Line

Oct. 5, 2010

KALAMAZOO--The Chicago-based acoustic pop band Down the Line will perform at Western Michigan University Friday, Oct. 8. The concert begins at 8:15 p.m. in the University's Dalton Center Recital Hall.

Photo of band Down the Line. The critically acclaimed quartet includes two WMU Jazz Studies alumni, Derek Fawcett (djembe, vocals) and Dan Myers (harmonica, mandolin, violin, vocals), with Levi Britton (acoustic guitar, vocals) and Dave Rothkopt (acoustic guitar, bass, vocals). Down the Line delivers an acoustic mix that the Chicago Sun-Times praised as "an organic blend of rollicking pop," and the Onion raved about the group's use of "rock 'n' roll attitude to create folksy pop."

The title cut from the band's recently released EP of new originals, "Open the Door," can be heard on Ford commercials being aired throughout Western Michigan.
