June 28, 2010

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University faculty applications for National Endowment for Humanities 2011 Summer Stipend awards are being accepted through Wednesday, July 7.

NEH Summer Stipends are $6,000 awards given to two faculty members for research during summer months. Candidates are nominated by their respective institutions, and a maximum of two applications are allowed per institution.

Any two members of the WMU faculty may be nominated. An anonymous panel of WMU faculty peers will conduct an initial review of applications, followed by a second review by the associate deans. The associate vice president for research will make the final selection.

To apply, faculty members should submit the following to their college's associate dean by no later than 4:30 p.m. July 7.

What to include with your application

  • A cover page, including name, contact information, title of proposed work, and date
  • A two-to-three page project narrative documenting intended full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two months. Please do not include applicant's name in the narrative.
  • A two-page curriculum vitae, a one-page bibliography and any appendices.

Once nominated, faculty can submit their applications to NEH through Sept. 30.
