Student organizations invited to leadership conferenceJune 22, 2010 KALAMAZOO--A leadership conference for Registered Student Organizations at Western Michigan University has been scheduled for Sunday and Monday, Aug. 15-16, in the Clarion Hotel, 3600 E. Cork St., Kalamazoo. Attendance for the Registered Student Organization Leadership Conference is limited to a total of 150 WMU students, with each RSO allowed to send up to a maximum of five members. The cost is $25 per student and includes lodging, meals, materials, activities and all other conference-related costs.
The inaugural event will focus on the concept of synergy and give participants opportunities to collaborate, build coalitions, learn new skills and plan strategically for their RSOs. It will begin with registration check-in starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, followed by an opening lunch at noon. It will conclude at 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, following a closing banquet that will feature a keynote address by Larry Tolbert, chair of the WMU Board of Trustees. The conference agenda features keynote addresses, 19 educational breakout sessions and workshops, networking and relationship-building activities, built-in planning time for individual RSOs, and evening entertainment as well as social activities. The event is being sponsored by Student Activities and Leadership Programs, the WMU Alumni Association and Campus Activities Board.
