Reservations due for annual staff luncheon

April 30, 2010

KALAMAZOO--Professional and support staff members at Western Michigan University will gather for the annual APA-PSSO Awards and Spring Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 21, in the Bernhard Center Ballroom.

The spring luncheon has a reservation deadline of Friday, May 14. It will include staff recognitions by the sponsoring organizations: the Administrative Professional Association and the Professional Support Staff Organization.

The 2010 theme is "Experience Michigan." Author Larry Massie, local historian and WMU alumnus, will present the keynote address on "Adventures in Michigan's Past." Ministry With Community will be the featured service project at this year's luncheon.

The event also will feature door prizes, information about various cities around the state and photographs of numerous Michigan lighthouses taken by Tammy M. Boneburg, a graphic designer in WMU's office of University Relations.

The spring luncheon is open to the public and costs $5 for members of APA and PSSO and $8 for nonmembers.

To make a reservation, visit the APA website at wmich.edu/apa, download the luncheon flier, complete the reservation form and return the completed form with payment by May 14.

APA is still accepting nominations for the three awards it gives out during the luncheon. The deadline is Wednesday, May 12, to nominate an administrative or professional WMU employee for the Outstanding Professional and Outstanding New Professional awards and to nominate an active APA member for the Tony Griffin Service Award.
