Rent-A-Puppy supports area pet sheltersApril 2, 2010 KALAMAZOO--“Rent-A-Puppy,” benefitting the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, is Thursday, April 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Goldsworth Valley Gazebo on the main campus of Western Michigan University. WMU students and community members can rent a cute puppy or dog for half an hour with a $5 donation and a state photo ID. The proceeds will benefit the SPCA of Southwest Michigan and WMU's Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, which organizes the event. About 20 dogs of all shapes and sizes will be available to rent. Outright cash donations to the SPCA and contributions of needed materials also will be accepted during the event.
