Gold Company to perform at Lincoln Center

Feb. 26, 2010

KALAMAZOO--Gold Company, Western Michigan University's award-winning vocal jazz ensemble, is headed to New York to perform again at Lincoln Center, recognized by many as "the world's leading performance arts center."

Gold Company will perform on Sunday, Feb. 28, in The Allen Room of Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at the Lincoln Center. The Gold Company performance is part of the New York City Jazz Festival. Performing with WMU's globetrotting vocal ensemble will be Janis Seigel, nine-time Grammy award-winner with Manhattan Transfer.

The concert will open with a performance by the East Carolina University Jazz Band with guest artist and jazz trumpet player Terell Stafford of Temple University. Also performing will be a festival chorus composed of festival participants and directed by Gold Company director Dr. Stephen Zegree, the WMU Bobby McFerrin Professor of Jazz. After the festival chorus performs, Gold Company will hit the stage.

GCII, a sister ensemble to Gold Company, will perform in concert earlier in the afternoon and as part of the festival chorus.
