Two retiring Bernhard Center veterans honoredFeb. 17, 2010 KALAMAZOO--Ted Petropoulos, director of the Bernhard Center, and Linda Doremus, manager of Bernhard Center facilities and events, will be honored for their combined 63 years of service to Western Michigan University at separate retirement receptions this month.
Linda Doremus will be honored for her 23 years of service. She began at WMU in 1985 as administrative secretary in the Bernhard Center and has served in her present post as manager of facilities and events for the past 18 years. A 1990 business administration graduate of WMU, Doremus was a member of the Administrative Professional Organization and Professional Support Staff Organization, and received awards from both. Ted Petropoulos will be honored for his 40 years of service to WMU. He began his career at WMU in 1969 as an assistant supervisor in Dining Services at the Bernhard Center. He rose through the ranks in the Bernhard Center as operations supervisor, assistant director and, finally, director--since 1991. In recent years, he served on the United Way Advisory Board and has served since 1991 on the board of the Kalamazoo County Convention and Visitors Bureau/Discover Kalamazoo.
