Two-day bash showcases business programs

Sept. 21, 2009

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University students will have the chance to learn about business-related student organizations, majors and programs at the fall 2009 Business Bash from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Organized by the Student Leadership Advisory Board of the Haworth College of Business, Business Bash is designed to welcome new students and reacquaint returning students with business-related professional student organizations, business academic departments, the Career Center and the Haenicke Institute for Global Education. The first 400 students will receive a Business Bash T-shirt.

According to SLAB co-advisors Jan Gabel-Goes, professor of business information systems, and Linda Ickes, director of the Career Center, the event provides an excellent opportunity for new students to meet student organization leaders and gather information about how to get involved personally and professionally. In addition to student organizations, faculty from each department will be available to describe majors and programs, and several employer sponsors--Charter One Bank, Meijer and Target--will be on hand to give advice on the job search and personal finance. Free refreshments also will be served.

Business Bash will be outside in the Schneider Hall courtyard or in the Schneider Hall Quiet Lounge if it rains. For more information call the Career Center at (269) 387-2711.
