WMU offices closed Labor Day weekend

KALAMAZOO--Except for essential and emergency services, Western Michigan University offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of U.S. Labor Day.

Public events being held on campus over the holiday weekend include two home volleyball matches at University Arena. For tickets or more information, visit wmubroncos.com.

Listed below are Labor Day weekend hours for select University offices and services. Most campus services are closed or on reduced hours Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7. Faculty and staff, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office is open before driving to campus. For emergencies only, contact WMU Public Safety at (269) 387-5555.

Admissions office is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7. No campus tours will take place over the weekend.

Bernhard Center and Bronco Mall store hours are available on the Web. Open reduced hours Saturday, Sunday and Monday are the Bernhard Information Desk, Biggby Coffee, Campus Trends, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Subway, the WMU Bookstore and Textbook Alley.

Computer Help Desk is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7.

Bernhard Center computer lab is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7, and begins fall semester hours at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.

University Computing Center lab is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7, and begins fall semester hours at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.

One Stop Convenience Center is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7.

Student Recreation Center is closed through Saturday, Sept. 5; open noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6; closed Monday, Sept. 7; and begins fall semester hours at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.

Unified Clinics is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7.

Waldo Library is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7, and begins fall semester hours at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.

To reduce energy costs, heating and cooling systems in all classroom buildings controlled by the WMU Building Energy Management System will be in "holiday mode." Air handlers will not run unless a space is exempt from the program or the temperature in a particular space goes outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not normally go into "night setback mode," will not go into "holiday mode."
