KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University celebrates the success of its 2008 volleyball season with a golf outing and alumnae volleyball match sponsored by Spikers Club, the WMU volleyball booster organization.
A volleyball match pitting current Broncos versus stars from past teams begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in University Arena. The event is open to the public free of charge.
Earlier that day, the annual Bronco Volleyball Alumni and Friends Golf Outing will be held at Pine View Golf Club, located just off U.S. 131 four miles south of Schoolcraft, Mich. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and luncheon program at 1 p.m.
The complete cost for golf participants is $70, including golf, lunch and raffle. Lunch without golf is $20 per person. Proceeds benefit the volleyball travel fund, which supported the team's May 2008 trip to compete in Brazil. For information on sponsoring the event or to make reservations, contact Stacy Vallier, athletic corporate relations, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (269) 387-3062.
